Sunday, June 9th Rio will be in Central Park and so should you!
Rio is a party/dance band focused in the genre of classic rock and country. This trio has been around since 1985 with their longest standing member being their drummer Frutoso “Fruit” Balderas. The newest members are Steve Richardson on bass and Lloyd Waxler on guitar. They like to keep the music just as lively and energetic as they are. Some all-time favorites that you might hear are Boot Scootin’ Boogie, Green Snakes on the Ceiling, Shake Shake Shake Sonora, Tennessee Whiskey, Walz Across Texas, Brick House, and Statue of a Fool.
“We’re looking forward to and welcome the opportunity to play for Seguin. We’re lively and I hope we’re anything but boring. We are excited and truly cannot wait to play for Seguin”, said Fruit Balderas.
This year’s concert series will continue every Sunday evening. On June 16th Clint Taft and the Buck Wild Band, followed by Gacho Sol on June 23rd. On June 30th the San Antonio Symphonic Band will perform a beautiful set of patriotic and big band music. The final concert will feature the Seguin High School Matador Band and TLU’s Community Music Academy.
Hamburgers, hotdogs, sausage on a stick and cold beverages will be sold by Boy Scout Troop 107 and the local girl scout troop will be selling baked goods, all to fundraise for different troop activities and trips. The concerts will be on Sunday’s starting at 7:00 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m. The family-friendly concerts are free and offers something for almost every musical taste. Bring a chair or blanket and sit back, relax, and enjoy!
