Adding their own twist and funk to the music we all enjoy listening to, Phil Luna and The Lunatics are scheduled to perform in Central Park for the Seguin Main Street Program’s Central Park Summer Concert Series on Sunday, June 24 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

When asked how their cover band originally started, Phil replied “I began performing regularly at Bat Bar on 6th street in Austin in 2011. I performed 5 nights a week which allowed me to quit my day job. I remember receiving a phone call while driving to the bar one afternoon. It was the door guy asking if he could set up his drums and play with me that evening. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I said, ‘yeah go for it!’. Mike D and I have been playing together ever since. We spent a few years playing as a duo until Mike introduced me to our bass player, Ben. We all seemed to gel really well together, so he became a permanent fixture in the band as well”.

This cover band consist of three members. Singer Phil Luna, who grew up in New Braunfels and now lives in Austin, TX. He has toured the U.S. and Canada in several bands, and is currently working on music for a new EP. Drummer, Mike Degelia, a resident of New Braunfels, TX was recently married and has a wonderful 8-year-old step-daughter, as well as a baby boy on the way. Mike studied music at Richland Community College and when he’s not playing drums, he’s a part-time bartender. Ben Bradshaw, the bands 29 year old bass player, grew up in Lufkin and now lives in Spicewood, TX. He’s a full-time, freelance musician, loves dogs, and studied music at Musicians Institute.

The band enjoys performing in Seguin. Phil says “Our favorite thing about Seguin is definitely the people, our main focus is to have a good time…and our goal is for the audience to have a great time and have spent a memorable evening with family and friends”.

The summer concert series features area bands on Sunday evenings during the month of June and first week of July. The last Sunday in June, the 24th, will feature the cover band, Phil Luna & the Lunatics. To end the Summer Concert Series, on July 1st the San Antonio Symphonic Band will perform a patriotic concert to continue the weekend celebration of Independence Day.

Food will be for sale by a local Boy Scout troop to help fundraise for camping activities. The concerts will be on Sundays starting at 7:00 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. The family-friendly concerts are free and offers something for almost every musical taste. Bring a chair or blanket and sit back, relax, and enjoy!
