As you may have heard Pecan Fest will be here October 25th and 26th. Of course, there will be pecans, but the event has a bit more instore for you than that! From open houses to historic tours to finding the great pumpkin, there is something here for you. Here is snapshot of some events going on, but you can always find the full schedule at www.seguingonuts.com.
Friday:
8:30 am – 5:00 pm Seguin Art League Paint Out Join the Seguin Art League in their Paint Out by painting Seguin landmarks located within historic downtown Seguin. Each artist will receive a participant’s tag, map of the downtown area and tips on locations. The theme is “Anything Seguin.” The artwork will be judged and then sold on Saturday during Trade Days. Meet at the Seguin Art League at 104 S Austin on Friday morning.
7:30 pm – 11:00pm Hats Off to Juan Seguin Pub Crawl This annual celebration of our city’s namesake is all about fun. To honor Seguin’s birthday, everyone is asked to show up wearing a fun, creative hat while meeting up with your friends in Central Park. Check in at the registration to get your Pecan Fest Pub Crawl pass and then wear your fun hat all evening long as you go bar to bar. First 150 registered participants to check in at Central Park will receive a complimentary gift. To participate in the pub crawl is free!
Saturday:
9:00 am – 12:00 pm Healthy Nut Run Healthy families… Healthy School… Healthy Community! 5k Run/walk hosted by the Seguin Education Foundation. Proceeds from this event will benefit grants for Seguin ISD campuses distributed by the Seguin Education Foundation. Kids- $10, Adults Onsite- $25. The run is at Starke Park Pavilion.
9:00 am – 4:00 pm 18th Annual Wilson Pottery Show The Wilson family’s pottery business is the first known business in Texas owned by a freed slave. The kiln was located just outside of Seguin. This show is a great venue to view, purchase or sell collectible 1900 era clay pieces from Guadalupe and surrounding counties. The show is at the Historic Sebastopol House at 704 Zorn St.
9:30 am – 2:30 pm Magnolia Hotel Open House Viewing Come out and enjoy a FREE open house of the Historic Magnolia Hotel. View the restoration progress and the newly restored AirBnB suite that just opened. Come take a walk back in time and see what the Magnolia Hotel looked like during its glory days! Self-guided tour information will be on hand to walk you through the history of this amazing Texas Landmark. Come in and see a little bit of haunted history at the Magnolia Hotel at 203 S. Crockett St.
10:00 am – 4:00 pm Heritage Village Open House Seguin Conservation Society is offering free tours of some of Seguin’s first buildings. Come out and embrace Seguin History! Heritage Village is at 213 E Live Oak St.
10:00 am – 5:00 pm Shopping and More at Downtown Trade Days Shop over 100 vendors downtown in Central Park selling a home décor, clothing, art, food and much more. There will also be live music all afternoon and a beer and wine garden.
10:00 am – 2:00 pm Fire Prevention at the Heritage Museum Have your photo taken on Seguin’s first fire truck. While there, take a tour of the museum and learn about Seguin’s rich history. Heritage Museum is located at 114 North River Street.
10:00 am – 5:00 pm Agriculture Heritage at the Big Red Barn Family fun activities will be all over the Big Red Barn. Enjoy a delicious turkey & dressing lunch while learning about the history of the pecan at the pecan museum. Bakers enter your pecan goodies in the Pecan Bake Off. There will be lots more of fun activities out at the Big Red Barn located at 390 Cordova Road.
7:00 pm – 9:30 pm Johnny Cash Tribute and Pecan Pie Contest $30 at the door. Along with this Johnny Cash tribute, in the spirit of Pecan Fest, there will be a Pecan Pie Contest in the lobby with the winner announced on stage. Winner will receive two tickets to the next performance. Call (830) 832-9857 for information on how to enter!
A little bit for Sunday:
12:00 pm – 5:00 pm Wine Tasting For $15 a person come taste wine with a beautiful view. Lue Lotus Winery, 5151 FM 20
1:30 pm & 3:30 pm Riverside Cemetery Tours Historical re-enactments of Seguin pioneers. Tickets $15. For more information call 830-305-4379. Riverside Cemetery, 201 E Klein
