This three-day festival allows Seguinites to breaks out of their shells and throw one big party celebrating our community's famous nut and city’s heritage. Events will be spread all over Seguin, including the Red Barn, Teatro De Artes, Sebastopol House and more. There will be something for everyone, from the foodie nut to the history nut to the just nuts about Seguin nut.
To kick off activities, Friday, October 26, Paint Out in Central Park with the Seguin Art League. You’ll see artist spread-out over the downtown painting landmarks and scenes from the historic downtown district. Their artwork will then be judged and sold on Saturday in Central Park. For your evening plans, put your dancing shoes on and Pachanga at Teatro De Arts De Juan Seguin. Teatro De Artes will open their doors to the public with free dancing lessons, followed by a community wide dance. You can keep your dancing shoes on and show up and show off wearing a fun, creative hat in downtown Seguin for a nutty evening at our third annual Hats Off to Juan Seguin Pub Crawl. Check in at Central Park for your Pub Crawl pass and visit participating bars to be entered into a drawing for a grand prize. Keep in mind the first 150 registered participants to check in at Central Park will receive a complimentary gift!
You don't want to miss the uproariously funny spoof on the 1950s horror films, “Attack of the Two-headed Atomic Squirrel”. Set in our very own Seguin, TX as a 1950's SyFy movie in which a UFO has invaded, and the aliens want all their nuts because Seguin is known to have the world's largest pecan. Saturday, October 27 will be flowing with activities all day. Come downtown for a little shopping at Trade Days with over 90 vendors set up around Central Park selling pecan products, handmade arts and crafts, jewelry, clothing and gems. The 7th Annual Texas Mead Festival will also be hosted in Central Park serving honey wines from throughout the state. Activity booths for children will be available as well. Live entertainment by Hard Cover, Ballet Folklorico De La Rosa, and more will perform from the bandstand in Central Park all afternoon.
Bus transportation will be available from Central Park to the Texas Agricultural Education and Heritage Center, also known as the Big Red Barn where you’ll get to experience real life as an early settler with live animals, the historical country village and meet Buffalo Soldiers at the camp site. Activities throughout the day at the Red Barn will include a Pecan Baking Contest for both youth and adult, crowning of the Pecan Queen, a Skat Tournament, as well as pecans and pecan products and other various items at dozens of vendor booths will be on sale. Entertainment for kids includes games, hay rides, horse rides, and a kiddie train. A photo "op" with the Big Pecan and "Real" big squirrel is a must during Pecan Fest!
All weekend long you can stop by Pape’s Pecan and Nutcracker Museum for pecan goods, stroll through downtown to shop with our downtown merchants and even take part of a beloved fall tradition and visit the pumpkin patch filled with lots of family activities and photo opportunities. Enjoy delicious tastes of Texas wines and meads (honey wines) made right here in Seguin with some of the greatest views around at the Blue Lotus Winery and Texas Mead Works. Don’t miss your opportunity for a free guided tour of the Historic Magnolia Hotel, as well as the Sebastopol House where you’ll learn all its rich history and view exhibits of the rare and highly collectible pottery from the Wilson Pottery Foundation, which will host the 17th Annual Pottery Show on Saturday, October 27.
