Mexican American Culture Featured During Concert Series

Teatro de Artes De Juan Seguin is bringing in the art and vocals of Mexican American culture to Central Park at the Seguin Main Street Program’s Summer Concert Series on Sunday, June 10 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. With performances from the finest all female mariachis, Las Alteñas, and the award winning Ballet Folklorico De La Rosa.


According to their website, Mariachi Las Alteñas, “has been captivating audiences throughout the United States since 2002. These 10 remarkably talented women are brought together by their passion to perform and promote the majesty of mariachi music. Known for their exceptional stage presence, musical performances and strong harmonious vocals, Mariachi Las Alteñas appeals to audiences of all generations and heritages.”


Ballet Folklorico De La Rosa recently competed in the Festivales De Mexico Competition held at La Villita Assembly Hall in San Antonio, winning 3rd place for the Zacatecas group in the Non-Profit Jr. Small Group Division.


The all female mariacis group, Las Altenas, will perform in Central Park on Sunday, June 10.

Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin is a non-profit, well-respected and thriving Art Center in Seguin with a mission to promote a better understanding of the Mexican-American culture by the teaching, study, practice, and performance of the arts.


The summer concert series will feature area bands on Sunday evenings. Natalie Rose to perform on June 17th playing a variety of county music. The last Sunday in June, the 24th, will feature the cover band, Phil Luna & The Lunatics. Finally, on July 1st the San Antonio Symphonic Band will perform a patriotic concert to continue the weekend celebration of Independence Day.


Food will be for sale by a local Boy Scout troop 107 to help fundraise for camping activities. The concerts will be on Sundays starting at 7:00 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. The family-friendly concerts are free and offers something for almost every musical taste. Bring a chair or blanket and sit back, relax, and enjoy!
