Independence Day Celebrations Begin June 30

One of Seguin's biggest traditions is the annual Independence Day Celebration. Starting in the days leading up to Independence Day and capping off with the Biggest Small-Town Fourth of July Parade. Each year these festivities offers memorable and enjoyable experiences for the entire community.

Uncle Sam at the Biggest Small-Town Fourth of July Parade

The weekend long celebration of our independence kicks off Saturday, June 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. with Freedom Fiesta hosted by local radio station, KWED 1580. The celebration is held in Central Park in downtown Seguin and includes live performances, a kids parade led by Uncle Sam, vendors selling delicious foods, and of course some great socializing as the whole community celebrates in the town square.

On Sunday, July 1, the San Antonio Symphonic Band will play a medley of patriotic tunes to get you in the spirit for Independence Day during the Seguin Main Street Program’s Summer Concert Series from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The all-volunteer organization is conducted by Alfred Tapia, a native of San Antonio.

The summer concert series featured area bands and artists for five consecutive Sunday evenings during the month of June and first week of July. Performances included a variety of music genres and artists with their own twists to popular tunes. The series will end with the San Antonio Symphonic Band getting everyone in the mood for the Fourth of July with a melody of patriotic numbers.

Food will be for sale by a local Boy Scout troop to help fundraise for camping activities. The concerts will be on Sundays starting at 7:00 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. The family-friendly concerts are free and offers something for almost every musical taste. Bring a chair or blanket and sit back, relax, and enjoy!
