Get Painting with the Art League

Everyone is invited to showcase their inner artist by participating in the Seguin Art League’s annual Paint Out and Wet Paint Sale when it returns to downtown Seguin on October 23 and 24.

On Friday, October 23 at 8:30 a.m., artists will check in at the Seguin Art League building at 104 South Austin Street and then disburse throughout downtown Seguin to start their masterpieces. The theme for the paint out is “Anything Seguin” and artists are encouraged to paint the different landmarks and landscapes found in downtown.

The artists will have until 5:00 p.m. to complete their artwork before turning it back into the art league building where it will dry overnight. Then on Saturday, October 24, the artwork will be displayed and judged as part of Seguin Main Street’s Fall Trade Days and Pecan Fest. The artwork will be judged by qualified judges and there will also be a people’s choice. In addition to the judging, the artwork will be available for purchase.

“It is a fun, relaxing event with the stress of completing the painting in one day,” said Liz Romero, the Seguin Art League’s Development Chair, “All ages are welcome to participate, any children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.”

Artists interested in participating will need to submit their entry form and fee to the League and bring with them to the paint out their canvas/board that must be larger than 8” by 10” and no larger than 16” by 20” and their painting media including pastel, pen and ink, and pencil.
