Gacho Sol is up next for Summer Concert Series

On June 23, Gacho Sol will be in Central Park with hot sounds as the Central Park Summer Concert Series continues!

Percussionist and vocalist, Johnny Ringo, filled us in on who Gacho Sol is, “This thing started a little over 5 years ago as a guitarist, percussionist vocal duo. Just a couple of guys messing around and hosting open mic nights at an outdoor bar in New Braunfels.” Ringo continued, “The duo consisted of Ernie Kilowatt on vocals and guitar and myself on percussion and vocals.”

As the duo booked more gigs and brought on a bass player Legend Willie Lee, the band looked for the perfect, catchy name. The band has performed under several names including Gruenery Station and Hard Cover, but rolled out their new brand and name on January 1, 2019 as Gacho Sol, or roughly translated as terrible sun.

“Gacho Sol means Terrible Sun just like the way the Texas sun can be during the summer,” said Ringo, “Gacho is a Spanish slang word for terrible or horrible. The name is catchy, it just goes together.”

Gacho Sol covers a variety of different music genres from country, classic rock, Texican Rock, Latin Rock, easy listening, grunge, blues, reggae, and anything in between - just like a personal play list on your favorite device.

“The Gacho’s will soon be working on their own material and more than likely stick to the format of a variety of different genres because that’s who we are,” said Ringo. Gacho Sol performs every second Friday of every month at Court Street Coffee Shop – so you can catch them there after seeing them perform on Sunday, June 23. Check out their Facebook page Gacho Sol and hit the like button for information on upcoming shows, festivals, videos and more.

After Gacho Sol performs there will be two more concerts to wrap up the summer concert series. The San Antonio Symphonic Band performing a patriotic concert on June 30th, and the TLU Community Music Academy and Seguin High School Band performing July 7th.

Hamburgers, hotdogs, and sausage on a stick will be sold by the local boy scouts and the local girl scouts will be selling baked goods, all to fundraise for different troop activities and trips. The concerts will be on Sundays starting at 7:00 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. The family-friendly concerts are free and offers something for almost every musical taste. Bring a chair or blanket and sit back, relax, and enjoy!
