Small businesses help create a unique sense of place, adding to what makes our community special. And with the addition of several new stores to downtown Seguin over the last few months, the heart of our community has gotten just a little more special.
After opening in August, Seguin Pharmacy has been providing services to our community with fast, friendly, professional service and the highest-quality medicines and health products. Other services offered are medication reviews, diabetes consulting, products and services, e-mail and text message refill reminders, medical supplies and equipment, immunizations and flu shots, and even free delivery on prescriptions to home or office. Owner, Merlin stated, “With other pharmacies in town that are unable to provide delivery service, I wanted to provide this option to the community. Delivering to the those that do not have transportation is very important.” Not only do they provide this service to the Seguin area but also surrounding areas such as McQueeney, New Braunfels, Stockdale, and Kingsbury. Next door to the pharmacy is Saenz Boot and Shoe Repair, located at 207 E. Court Street. The owners are a couple with a talent to repair and kindness to share with the community. Owner, Johnny Saenz says, “The town is great, the people are great. Business at this time is a little slow but it will pick up with fall and winter seasons coming. We are just happy to be able to get our name out here in Seguin.” Saenz Boot and Shoe Repair specialize in repairing boots, shoes, sandals and some leather goods. On the same block, on the corner of River and Court Street at 101 S. River sits the Texas Poker Room. A private social club that provides a clean, fun, and safe environment to play poker. Business owner, Jeff stated “Currently, the club is in the process of creating a consistent daily game schedule and weekly tournament schedule.” This game room is a must try for those looking for a day or night of fun and legal gambling.
Seguin’s only vape store and lounge, Vape Case offers a wide variety of vaporizers for local reformed tobacco users in town. Owner Casey Dudley said, “People shouldn’t be scared to come in and simply ask questions about the products…Nicotine is as dangerous as caffeine…we have products that help with that”. These all in one kits provide an alternative to the conventional tobacco smokers, delivering vaporized nicotine through a battery-operated system. Stop by and check them out at 105 N. The newest shop welcomed to the downtown district is the one of a kind, Kimber Grace Boutique. Owner Veronica Frizzell is thrilled to have found a place to call home for her online and now brick & mortar retail business at Park Plaza Hotel. Veronica has had an online business for the past two years and when she found this location in downtown Seguin, she knew this was her way of expanding. Along with the expansion her own business, she is happy to bring in other products from retired military veteran vendors such as Bubble and Squeak that offer natural soaps and Addy Rose Southern with her handmade jewelry and vintage style clothing. Veronica stated, “Having an online business and now onsite store, this allows for all season clothing with reasonable pricing for everyone.” Kimber Grace Boutique is located at the Park Plaza Hotel, on the first floor at 217 S. River Street.
Finally, Culture, formerly known as Young, Wild and Free has been in business for five years. The streetwear and urbanwear boutique is now located in downtown Seguin at 114 E. Court St. Owner, Max Marion moved to the downtown district nearly three months ago. Max said, “We have some cool clothing and accessories for all age groups… we offer brands that shoppers don’t have to travel to purchase.” Some of the brands include Primitive, Pink Dolphin, and LRG Clothing lines.
