As downtown has welcomed new businesses and a large growth in population is on the horizon for Seguin, a group of downtown businesses have partnered to have a voice in downtown Seguin’s future and market themselves as a destination for shopping, dining and unwinding.
The businesses are relaunching the Downtown Business Alliance of Seguin. While the DBA has come and gone over the last several decades always to address pressing issues or needs, this is the first time the organization is reforming with a vision of being a marketing organization.
Dana Hall, owner of You’re So Crafty and President of the Alliance, said “This organization was created by a group of business owners in Seguin and the surrounding area who recognize that a commitment to showcase our historic downtown, vibrant businesses, and entertainment is key to growth and success for us all and our thriving community.”
The Alliance has been co-hosting Sip ‘n Stroll with Seguin Main Street for the past eight years, but the newly reenergized group is looking to tackle larger issues and do more to promote an economic vibrant downtown. The Alliance has taken over Third Thursdays in downtown, bringing fresh ideas to the monthly shopping events. Additionally, the Alliance is partnering on advertisements, producing a billboard and more to promote downtown Seguin.
Finally, the Alliance allows for the downtown businesses to have one voice to advocate for downtown.
“We believe that working with Seguin Main Street, Seguin Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Seguin Chamber and the Seguin Economic Development Corporation, the DBA can help positively impact the future of Seguin and the surrounding area,” said Hall.
Any business, nonprofit or individual is welcome to join the Alliance; you do not have to be in downtown to join.
“The DBA is open to any kind of business - whether located in the downtown area or not,” said Hall, “DBA is open to anyone who believes our unique downtown is vital to the health of the entire community.” For more information, visit www.seguindba.org and follow the Alliance on Facebook at www.facebook.com/DowntownSeguin.
