Central Park Summer Concert Series Sounds Off

Central Park Summer Concert Series hosted in historic downtown Seguin by the Seguin Main Street Program is back, and you can hear the beautiful sounds starting June 2nd!


Kicking off this series is the talented Comal Community Band conducted by Alfred Tapia, making it the bands eighth time to kick off this series. Alfred Tapia is a San Antonio native who served in the military Army as a musician and Bandmaster until he retired in 1984. During his service Tapia conducted bands in Vietnam, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, the German Democratic Republic, France and Morocco. He has remained an active musician in the San Antonio area since, including being a member of many other bands, teaching, and conducting.





The Comal Community Band plays a wide array of pieces from German inspired to classical to modern wind arrangements. Just how they are diverse in musical pieces they are diverse in members. Members come from all ages, genders, occupations, and backgrounds and share their talents in harmony. Some band members are past band directors or professional musicians, but most are just amateur players with a heart for music.

This year’s concert series will feature five area bands on Sunday evenings. On June 9th

Rio, followed by Clint Taft and the Buckwild Band on June 16th, followed by Gacho Sol on June 23rd. Finally, on June 30th the San Antonio Symphonic Band will finish off this magnificent series with a beautiful performance.

Hamburgers and hotdogs will be sold by the local boy scout troop and the local girl scout troop will be selling baked goods, all to fundraise for different troop activities and trips. The concerts will be on Sundays starting at 7:00 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. The family-friendly concerts are free and offers something for almost every musical taste.
