The Seguin-Guadalupe County Heritage Museum will be celebrating its 20th anniversary on Friday April 6 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The celebration will include wine, cheese, tea and heavy hors d’ oeuvres, special exhibits and a silent auction.

“We have some great donations from area businesses for our silent auction,” said Debbie Armstrong, volunteer with the Heritage Museum, “The silent auction will start as early as 3:00 p.m. and so far, we have about 50 items.”

The museum has had a great year so far and have a few things to celebrate. First celebrating 20 years of operations and the wide variety of visitors to the museum.

“We have had an exciting year. One of the important things that has happened is that we have a lot of schools come from the surrounding areas to our museum and it s just amazing to see the kids come and learn about our history,” said John Gesick, Executive Director of the Heritage Museum, “Another thing that is important is that we get a great number of people that come from outside Seguin, Texas and even the U.S. and it’s just amazing to see that.”

Visitors to the open house will be able to see a Texas History exhibit, “Western Heritage” from the 1800s. In the exhibit, guests will be able to see items from our locals that were apart of the ranching life that were passed down from generation to generation.

The museum is overseen by a twelve-member board and consists of an extensive membership. Individual membership is $25.00, family membership is $35.00 and business membership is $50.00. Entry to the open house is free for members, and $15.00 for non-members.

After the open house, join the Seguin Main Street Program for Moonlight & Roses in Walnut Springs Park. Moonlight & Roses will feature live music from Dirty Dixie River Band, hors d’ oeuvres from area restaurants, and the presentation of the downtown awards. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair, blanket and beverages of choice. Moonlight & Roses is free and open to the public.
