Calling All Artists - Submit Your Artwork for the 2021 Sip 'n Stroll Mug

The 2021 Sip n’ Stroll Committee and the Seguin Main Street Program invite local artists to submit artwork of Seguin’s First Church to be featured on the 2021 Sip n’ Stroll mug. The artwork should be an original piece and all mediums are welcome to be submitted. The artwork should fit a rectangle measuring 8” width x 4” height or a ratio similar to 2:1.

“This will be the 11th Sip ‘n Stroll and each year the mug features a different Seguin landmark. Previous years, the mug has featured the pecan, Sebastpol House, the Aumont, the Texas Theatre,” said Kyle Kramm, Seguin Main Street and CVB Director, “The committee is planning to feature our historic churches over the next few years, and so they decided what better church to start with than the First Church.”

Built in 1849, the First Church was where several denominations got their start in Seguin, the first being the Methodist as it hosted the district convention of Methodist ministers in 1849. The church is a typical German style church with two separate doors – one entrance for men and another for women and children. The bell tower in front, while not original to the church, was constructed as part of the Seguin Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Class of 2003. For more information on the church and additional photos, visit www.seguinconservation.org.

All artists are welcome to participate with all interpretations of the subject considered. The artwork should be submitted to the Seguin Main Street office at 116 N. Camp Street by Monday, August 16. Contact Christy Hopper at (830) 401-2475 to confirm drop off time. The 2021 Sip ‘n Stroll Committee will judge the submissions and select the artwork.

The chosen artwork will be featured on over 800 mugs, featured in press releases, new articles and shared across social media platforms. The artist will also be invited to be present at Pecan Fest on October 30 where the sale of the 2021 Sip n’ Stroll mug will be launched. The selected artist will also receive a $100 stipend.
