The month of June is very busy for the Seguin Main Street Program with the Central Park Summer Concert Series and preparations for the Fourth of July festivities. We want to take this opportunity to thank all of the individuals and organizations that help make the events a success.
For five consecutive Sunday evenings in June, bands and music groups took center stage in the Central Park bandstand bringing in 300 to 500 in audience. Concerts included performances from the Comal Community Band, Teatro de Artes de Juan Seguin, Natalie Rose, Phil Luna & the Lunatics and the San Antonio Symphonic Band. A huge thank you to all the artists for putting on a great show and thank you to Ron Sozzi for providing sound for several of the concerts. Boy Scout Troop 107 was out every Sunday selling hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks, and snow cones to the crowd. Their food items made each concert even more of an experience to all.
A special thanks to our local businesses, industries, and individuals who generously donated to support the Central Park Summer Concert Series which allows us to keep the concerts a free event to the public. Our 2018 sponsors included Kathy Nossaman Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, Tri-County A/C & Heating, Armstrong, Vaughan & Associates, Hexcel Corporation, CMC Steel Texas, Gift & Gourmet, Anders Pierce Realty, TRC, Seguin Beauty School, The Koehler Company, Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, Alamo Group, The Oak Tavern, GVEC, Guadalupe County United Way and First United Bank.
We also want to extend our appreciation to KWED 1580 for once again hosting Freedom Fiesta in downtown Seguin, continuing a long Seguin tradition.
With over 150 entries this year, the Biggest Small-Town Fourth of July Parade was a success thanks to many organizations and individuals who helped the morning of the parade. These included volunteers from the Rotary Club of Seguin, Goetz Funeral Home, Seguin Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association and other individuals who helped with staging and marshalling parade entries. Our parade judges, Chris Rangel, Yvonne De La Rosa and Ken Centeno, and parade announcers, Linda Duncan and Morgan Ash, made the parade extra special. We also would like to recognize Whataburger for providing breakfast for volunteers and Niagara Bottling for providing waters. And of course we want to thank the organizations and individuals who worked diligently to decorate their parade entries with red, white and blue.
Our biggest thank you goes out to the City of Seguin residents and the visitors who continue to support downtown Seguin and all the downtown events. In Seguin, we WORK HARD, CELEBRATE BIG!
